Some of you have started your ‘New Year, New You” rituals.

Eat Right. Go to the Gym. Shop Less. Do More.

I will spend the day today working on my Goals for 2016.  I break them into 4 categories: Personal, Home, Career, Financial. Remember if you don’t write them down they are just dreams. I also do my best to review them every month end to see where I am and make any adjustments if necessary. I keep them posted in 2 different places so I see them when I get up in the morning and before I go to bed.

I also like to start my day off with writing out what I need to accomplish that day, but before I start the list making I like to do something I learned in the book “Goddesses Never Age” by Christiane Northrup, M.D. It’s an exercise in Mama Gena’s School of Womanly Arts: Using the Power of Pleasure to Have Your Way with the World By Regena Thomashauer.

Along with my to do list I answer these 3 questions:

What am I proud of?

What am I grateful for?

What do I desire?

I write these in my journal and reflect on them before I start my day. I’ve been doing this for several months now, and I still struggle most with what I am proud of. When I first started doing this, I would write things like: I am so proud of Josh for landing his dream job. I am so proud of Winston for not jumping the fence today when he got off his lead. But I have gotten better about answering what I am proud of. Heck, some days it’s as simple as: I am proud that I didn’t buy the Christmas wrapping paper that was 90% off because God knows I have already hoarded enough wrapping paper to last me 10 plus years. Yah, some days it’s that simple. Other days they are bigger and that’s OK.

I challenge you to try this for 30 days, that is how I got started with this and it just stuck.

I’ve been looking back over my journal entries from this last year and I’ve smiled a lot at some of the things I desired that I have seen come to fruition.
